This new work with NAD Therapy is very exciting and I think is right on target. It is indeed an energy-metabolic-deficiency (EMD) because in the absence of this coenzyme cycle almost all the reactions in the body run down... I congratulate Theo Verwey and his colleagues for this remarkable advance in using this concept and in using a simple test, the ratio of pyruvate to lactate as a diagnostic measure, to indicate the dose, duration of treatment etc.

The ratio of lactate to pyruvate reflects the NAD/NADH ratio and is useful in distinguishing primary defects. Measured enzymatically in blood or CSF as an index of defects of glucose oxidation (fed state) or gluconeogenesis (fasted). BACKGROUND: Early assessment of injury severity is important in trauma. Trauma scores are calculated after the fact and are useful for audit and research, but not in the emergency clinical setting. Gl… Read more

Serum total lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) was estimated serially for up to 15 days in 110 patients with head injuries who had no extraneural injury. Increase in LDH activity generally indicated the degr… Read more

BACKGROUND: In patients with severe traumatic brain lesions, the lower limit for cerebral perfusion pressure (CPP) is controversial. The aim of this prospective study was to assess this limit from bed… Read more

OBJECT: Brain tissue acidosis is known to mediate neuronal death. Therefore the authors measured the main parameters of cerebral acid-base homeostasis, as well as their interrelations, shortly after s… Read more
